Creative genius is not a “right” bestowed on those who went to the right marketing and advertising colleges or schools.

It’s not something that can be bought or, to a very large degree, taught.

Yes, we can learn processes and techniques that help accelerate the creative thinking and problem-solving process and, yes, we can learn how to take our lofty ideas and turn them into the type of reality that ultimately helps achieve clients’ campaign and/or business goals but, at the very core of everything worth remembering and anything worthy of award lies that big, beautiful, sparkly idea.

It’s the equivalent of golfers hearing that “ping” that comes with the perfect shot. It’s like catapulting a Formula 1 car or Superbike through a series of tight corners . . . it’s the “aha moment” that drives all (good) work.

This month we celebrate some of the great ideas, people and creative.

Marketing, advertising, communications, PR, technology . . . we’re fans of all that’s new and all that’s gone before – mostly, of course, we’re fans of all that’s effective.

In February we celebrate our love for this industry by looking at some of the greats.

We hope you enjoy the quotes, clips and videos – and we hope you share some of your favourites with us.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can plan weird, that’s easy. What’s hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity.”
